Tokyo, Japan – Sony Corporation today announced the appointment of George Bailey from IBM to the newly created position of Senior Vice President, Corporate Executive and Chief Transformation Officer, effective June 1, 2009. In this role, Mr. Bailey will work with Sony Corporation senior management to help accelerate the Company’s transformation into a premier and profitable provider of networked products, content and services.

Specifically, Mr. Bailey will lead the newly established Transformation Management Office and provide vital input, coordination and support for the Consumer Products and Devices Group (CPDG) led by Hiroshi Yoshioka, Executive Deputy President of Sony Corporation and President of the CPDG, the Networked Products and Services Group (NPSG) led by Kaz Hirai, EVP of Sony Corporation and President of the NPSG, and other key business groups.
