ZITATIn an arrangement that could lead to closer links between two major photography companies, the Polaroid Corporation and the Minolta Camera Company announced yesterday that Minolta would sell a Polaroid instant camera under its own name.
In an arrangement that could lead to closer links between two major photography companies, the Polaroid Corporation and the Minolta Camera Company announced yesterday that Minolta would sell a Polaroid instant camera under its own name.
Minolta will have the exclusive right to market Polaroid's top-of-the-line Spectra Pro camera in the United States as the Minolta Instant Pro. Polaroid, based in Cambridge, Mass., said it was the first time it had made an instant camera available to another manufacturer for consumer markets.

Designed for Serious Amateurs
A Polaroid official said the Spectra Pro model was designed for serious amateur photographers who tend to consume a lot of film and for business users, like real estate agents who take pictures of properties. Unlike some simpler instant cameras, the Spectra Pro comes equipped with a liquid crystal display control panel, a three-element glass lens and a special lens for taking close-ups. The suggested retail price is $219.
Even bearing the Minolta name, the camera will use Polaroid's Spectra film and Polaroid will continue to manufacture the camera at its plant in Dumbarton, Scotland. In Japan, the camera will be sold only as a Polaroid.
Polaroid introduced the Spectra Pro earlier this year, and a spokesman said limited quantities had become available in stores. The Minolta Instant Pro is expected to be available through Minolta's distribution network starting in August.
ZITATA Minolta spokesman said this was not the first time it had sold products of other manufacturers. The company's small video recorders, he said, are made by Hitachi Ltd., another Japanese company.
...wieder was gelernt: Nicht überall, wo Minolta draufstand, war auch Minolta drin! ardon:
