RE: CES 2008: Sony TransferJet - Neue Nahfunktechnik

EDIT: Die waren etwas schneller... ;-) http://www.photoscala.de/node/3912

"TransferJet Consortium", consisting of nineteen companies -- Sony Corporation, Canon Inc., CASIO COMPUTER CO.,LTD., Eastman Kodak Company, Hitachi Ltd., JVC KENWOOD Holdings, Inc., KDDI Corporation, NEC Corporation, NIKON CORPORATION, NTT DOCOMO, INC., Olympus Imaging Corporation, Panasonic Corporation, Pioneer Corporation, SAMSUNG ELECTRONICS CO., LTD., Seiko Epson Corporation, SHARP CORPORATION, SOFTBANK MOBILE Corp., Sony Ericsson Mobile Communications, and Toshiba Corporation -- is developing specifications to establish conformance and interoperability of TransferJetTM, a close proximity wireless data transfer technology. "TransferJet Consortium" has recently completed specifications for the physical layer and connection layer, which form the basis of the wireless interconnectivity. "TransferJet Consortium" will start accepting submissions for Adopter members*1, who will become licensees of TransferJetTM, from May 19, 2009 to widely promote the adoption of this technology.
"TransferJet Consortium" aims to develop and promote products and services incorporating TransferJetTM technology through marketing activities that will describe the benefits of TransferJetTM across industries and customers. In addition, "TransferJet Consortium" will continue to develop specifications and guidelines to ensure interoperability between "TransferJetTM" products, establish licensing schemes and administer the use of the logo.

*1 "TransferJet Consortium" has created a new Adopter membership in addition to its current Promoter membership. An Adopter Member will be granted usage rights of technology specs set by TransferJetTM. Please see the "TransferJet Consortium" website ( http://www.transferjet.org/en ) for details.

What is TransferJet™?
TransferJetTM is a close proximity wireless technology enabling a high speed data transmission rate of 560Mbps and eliminating major issues of current wireless technologies such as complex initial setup, unstable transmission or the need for access points. TransferJetTM has adopted an intuitive interface consisting of simply bringing two products in close proximity. For example, one can display a picture simply by touching a digital camera to a TV, or transfer music files just by holding a cell phone over a portable audio player. This technology is expected to be widely utilized as a high-speed universal interface connecting a variety of consumer electronics products.
