Damit wäre auch geklärt was sich genau geändert hat, somit ist auch klar warum uns keine weiteren
Änderungen auffielen:

Speziell die beiden letzten werden der Allgemeinheit nicht auffallen wenn man nicht darauf achtet oder von Problemen betroffen war.

Auf derselben oben genannten Downloadseite gibt es aber auch weitere "Software-Leckerlis", wie z. B. die "Sony Image Data Suite" für Windows und Mac.

How to determine the firmware version
Slide the POWER switch to the ON position.Press the MENU button.Press the DISP button while the menu is displayed.The firmware version is shown in a window on the LCD monitor.Press the centre of the multi-selector to exit.
Note: if the firmware version is already "Ver.4", then the firmware update is not required.

Computer and hardware requirements
You need a computer that meets the following requirements:
One of the following Operating Systems:
Windows® Vista Home Basic / Home Premium / Ultimate / Business / Enterprise (*)Windows® XP Home Edition/Professional (*)Windows® 2000 ProfessionalMac OS X (v10.1.3 - v10.5)

so, ich hab's getan

Auf dem Stativ montiert, Testbilder mit CZ135 und 16-80 mit verschiedenen Blenden und ISOs.

Gerade hatte ich einen ähnlichen Effekt festgestellt wie du und die Bilder zum Vergleich zusammenmontiert, dann fiel mir auf dass eines davon Blende 4.5 und einen Blende 5.6 war - als ich dann die mit gleicher Blende verglichen habe ist der Unterschied praktisch weg.
Bei Blende 1.8 denke ich manchmal auch es gibt einen Unterschied, aber im nächsten Bild ist er auch weg, dürfte also eher eine leichte Fokusungenauigkeit sein.

Aber etwas anderes habe ich noch festgestellt: Auf meinen Testchart sind diverse einfarbige Flächen und manche Farben sind in der alten Firmware mit Querstreifen versehen die in der neuen weg sind.

Insgesamt muss ich sagen ich kann objektiv gesehen keine Nachteile des Upgrades nachweisen, falls welche da sind hätte ich noch viel genauer testen müssen - hatte aber auch ein sehr stabiles Stativ mit RRS L-Winkel und Arca Swiss Z1 Kopf, das sollte genügen für die Brennweiten.

Was ich noch sagen wollte: Die jetzt zum Download angebotenen Dateien sind binär identisch mit denen von letzter Woche - es braucht sich also niemand Sorgen machen, daß er letzte Woche eine "Beta-Version" o.ä. installiert hätte und jetzt nicht mehr auf die "finale" Version aktualisieren könnte.

Habe da mal eine Frage: Meine A700 hat zur Zeit noch die FW Version 2 drauf. Verpasse ich was, wenn ich direkt die Version 4 installiere oder soll ich über die Version 3 gehen.

Nein, du verpasst nichts und kannst direkt von 2 auf 4 gehen. Es ist kein Problem eine Version zu überspringen, du hast das schon richtig verstanden.

Wer hätte das gedacht: DPreview hat ein Update des Tests der Alpha 700 gebracht, basierend auf Firmware 4.
