Forum Übersicht - 'Photoworld' Magazin und 'Photoworld Club' [en]

Liebe Mitglieder.

Auch wenn der 'Photoworld Club' und das traditionsreiche 'photoworld' Magazin seit Konica Minoltas Rückzug keinerlei Support vom Hersteller mehr bekommen und auch von Sony nicht unterstützt werden (die möchten lieber ihr eigenes 'Hochglanz'-Magazin exklusiv nur für Alpha-Kunden etablieren), finden wir diese Initiative sehr unterstützenswert (für die, die des Englischen mächtig sind). Dieses Magazin wird nicht etwa von Werbeleuten herausgegeben, sondern vom britischen Berufsfotografen, Journalisten und Musiker David Kilpatrick und seiner Frau, die schon lange (u.a.) mit Minolta- und Konica Minolta-Gerätschaften arbeiten.

Photoworld is the magazine of the Minolta Club of Great Britain, which was founded in 1966 by Japanese Cameras Ltd, who imported Minolta at the time.

David and Shirley Kilpatrick started writing and contributing photographs for Photoworld in 1974, and for the Japanese annual Minolta Mirror in 1975.

In 1980, when Minolta set up a direct subsidiary in the UK, they were asked to take over running the Minolta Club and publishing Photoworld.

From 1981 to 2004, the quarterly magazine changed its name to Minolta Image.

After the Konica Minolta merger, it was decided to change back to Photoworld rather than add Konica to the name.

With the closure of the Konica Minolta photographic division in 2006, Konica Minolta asked for their name to be removed permanently from the club and magazine.

The magazine is now just known as Photoworld, and the club is called the Photoworld Club, but it remains dedicated entirely to the Minolta products of over 75 years - and the Sony Alpha products of the next 75!
