MINOLTA INTRODUCES THE MINOLTA X-370S
Minolta continues its support of traditional, manual-focus 35mm SLR cameras
Ramsey, NJ-- Minolta Corporation has announced the introduction of the Minolta X-370S, a handsomely designed manual-focusing 35mm single-lens reflex (SLR) camera incorporating a number of performance features allowing the user to take command of every photographic opportunity.
The Minolta X-370S is an ideal choice for photographers who prefer a manual-focus SLR. The bright viewfinder and acute-matte focusing screen, together with a wide assortment of Minolta's X-Series lenses, ensure optimum picture sharpness. Minolta's X-Series lenses are equipped with large, knurled focusing rings that provide a sure grip and the right amount of resistance for precise, comfortable operation. And, the camera's ergonomic design features a new touch-switch sensor that engages the metering system with the slightest touch of a finger.
"The Minolta X-370S underscores Minolta's commitment to traditional SLR camera use," said Robert T. Lathrop, Senior Vice President and General Manager of Minolta Corporation's Consumer Products Group. "The X-370S satisfies the needs of photo enthusiasts who want a semiautomatic 35mm camera with manual capabilities and intelligent design."
Aperture-Priority/Manual Metering
The new Minolta X-370S features aperture-priority automatic exposure control, providing accurate exposures under a wide range of lighting conditions. The user simply sets a desired lens aperture, and the camera automatically selects the appropriate shutter speed from 4 seconds to 1/1000 second. As the user rotates the lens' aperture selector ring, bright viewfinder LEDs light up adjacent to the corresponding shutter speeds, allowing the user to also set exposure based on a desired shutter speed.
Metered manual exposure control gives the user full control of all aperture and shutter speed combinations. The X-370S viewfinder displays exposure over-and under-range indicators for ongoing metering monitoring.
TTL Center-Weighted Average Metering
The Minolta X-370S also features through-the-lens (TTL) exposure metering which determines correct exposure by reading the entire image area with greatest emphasis on objects in the center.
AE Lock
An auto-exposure (AE) lock enables the photographer to determine the correct exposure based on the reading on the main subject. This is especially important in high contrast lighting situations or when the subject is off-center. Once the exposure is locked, the image can be recomposed with the subject anywhere in the viewfinder frame.
Accessories
The Minolta X-370S features Minolta's acute-matte focusing screen, which provides optimum light dispersion for a bright and clear image that is easy to focus in all situations. Other accessories include a motor drive, auto winder, wireless controller, eyepiece diopter correction, and X-series flash units.
